These photographs were taken by a unidentified United States Airforce Officer.
The following set of (7) pictures were taken on Ie Shima island off the coast of Okinawa on 19 August 1945,when Japanese envoys were summoned to Manila to meet with General MacArthur to discuss unconditional surrender. The Japanese envoys used Ie Shima as a transit point in the journey south. These pictures were sold as a set at Post Exchanges on Okinawa. |
