Letter and Pictures of Private Elvin F. Kerhres
 
 
   Pvt. Elvin Kerhres travels in the Corps during the War had him ending up as one of the last Marines perfoming  Occupation duty on mainland China as the below letter states in his own hand.  His command at this time was Company "C" 1st Battalion 29th Marine Regiment 6th Marine Division.   Reading his letters he was part of the Bouganville campaign earlier in the war, probably wounded then part of 18th replacement Battalion in New River N.C. and the 7th replacement Battalion in Camp Elliott Calif.  He participated in the battle of Okinawa then onto China where the below pictures were taken.  - Bob
